I stumbled across this trailer this morning and it looks like it could end up being one of my favourite movies of the year.
It’s a documentary about two vigilante leaders – one Mexican and one American – who are taking up arms to fight back against the Mexican drug cartels that are ruining their lives. The trailer is unbelievably intense as it looks like it follows them on various missions right into the heat of battle, with shots that you might not even see in some of the biggest Hollywood movies.
It’s no surprise that Kathryn Bigelow – who was behind The Hurt Locker and Point Break to name but a few – was involved in its production because it uses her signature jarry camerawork throughout, only this time it’s actually real life. It basically looks super intense and like it might give you a heart attack when you watch it. I hope it gets a general release over here so I can catch it in the cinema, and I hope it happens soon too dammit.
If you want to get prepped before the movie comes out and find out what the inside of a Mexican drug lord’s house looks like, check out these photographs.
