Halloween is still a couple months away, but if you’re looking to get your outfit locked down early look no further than what’s bound to be the most controversial get-up of 2015 — the Caitlyn Jenner costume.
Understandably, many feel the costume is “transphobic” and “disgusting”, but its creators ‘Spirit Halloween’ are looking at things differently:
At Spirit Halloween, we create a wide range of costumes that are often based upon celebrities, public figures, heroes and superheroes. We feel that Caitlyn Jenner is all of the above and that she should be celebrated. The Caitlyn Jenner costume reflects just that.
Ah right, you’re ‘celebrating’ her… on Halloween. Gotcha.

Addison Vincent, the creator of a Change.org petition asking Spirit Halloween to discontinue sales of the costume, fired back:
Do not turn Cailtyn Jenner into a costume. Your profit will only lead to greater transphobia and marginalization of an already at-risk community.
So on one hand, it is a cheeky move that will only serve to associate transgenderism with ghosts and monsters, but on the other hand we’ve seen people dress up as Freddie Murcery etc on Halloween in the past. Does that mean they’re making fun of gay people? Spirit Halloween’s ‘celebrity’ argument might have some weight to it.
Whatever the case, I won’t be wearing it. Won’t be wearing the stupidly inappropriate outfit Chris Brown wore last Halloween either.
