We seem to be seeing quite a few incidents involving XL Bully dogs recently, with many first time dog owners in the UK buying them up and not socialising them properly. Over in Birmingham the other day, an XL Bully escaped from its owner in Bordesley Green and attacked an 11-year-old girl, before mauling two men who came to her rescue:

Big respect to those men who got involved and suffered injuries of their own in order to potentially save that girl’s life. In the end, all three victims were taken to hospital for treatment, and the dog was taken to the vet to be checked over before being placed in secure kennels.
According to Metro, officers have spoken to the dog’s owner and they’re asking for anyone with information to get in touch with them. I’m not sure what more information they need given they’ve spoken to the owner and seen the footage, and you have to think the only real solution here is for this particular dog to be destroyed. I know that with proper training and responsible/loving owners that XL Bullies can become great pets, but there’s no realistic way to ensure they end up with the type owners who will provide this love and care, so where does that leave us?
Seems it’s only a matter of time before the XL Bully joins the Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino and the Fila Brasileiro on the Dangerous Dogs List. How many more people/animals need to be savagely attacked before that happens?
