Buckfast tonic wine was first created by the Benedictine monks at Buckfast Abbey way back in the 1890s.

What started out as a modest production sold in small quantities as a medicine has turned into an £8.8million empire and, more importantly, this wine is famously considered the drink of choice for anti-social youths.
So it might not be the classiest of drinks, but that’s why we love it, right? If you have a dinner party or gathering coming up, why not impress your guests with one or more of these tasty Buckfast cocktails?
Abbey Sour
Ingredients: 35ml whisky, 25ml Buckfast Tonic Wine, 25ml lemon juice, 15ml sugar syrup, 10ml egg white.
Recipe: Add all ingredients to a shaker except Buckfast. Shake for 10 seconds with cubed ice to chill. Then add to Buckfast.
Manhattan
Ingredients: 35ml whisky, 20ml Buckfast Tonic Wine, Three dashes of orange bitters.
Method: Add all ingredients to a mixing glass. Stir for 15-20 seconds.
Buckfast Bramble
Ingredients: 40ml gin, 15ml Buckfast Tonic Wine, 20ml lemon juice, 10ml grenadine, four blackberries.
Method: Add all ingredients to a shaker. Shake for 10 seconds with cubed ice to chill.
Pink Milk Punch
Ingredients: 50ml Buckfast Tonic Wine, 25ml cream, 50ml milk, 10ml orgeat, 15ml strawberry liquor.
Method: Add all ingredients to a shaker. Shake for 10 seconds.
Coconut Wine Punch
Ingredients: 50ml Buckfast Tonic Wine, 50ml coconut rum, 100ml passion fruit juice 10ml, passion fruit syrup, 5ml lime juice.
Method: Add all ingredients to a shaker. Shake for 10 seconds.
