Stephen Graham is one of the hottest actors on the scene right now following his outstanding performance in the show he co-wrote and co-created – Adolescence. Having already gained worldwide notoriety for his roles in Snatch, Boiling Point, This Is England, Peaky Blinders and more, it’s about time Graham landed a true legacy-defining leading role. Like… 007?
Yeah, I know. A Scouser working with the government? Would never happen. Even still, it looks like some Brits are pushing for this to become a reality, with the BBC’s Amol Rajan floating the idea on Instagram and getting loads of positive feedback on it:
And some of the replies:
Of course, Amazon and Jeff Bezos now own the rights to the James Bond franchise and have insisted they will “freshen” it up while also staying true to the roots of 007. What better way to freshen things up than recruiting a 5’4 Liverpudlian in his fifties, with a working class background and the least sexiest accent in Bond history to deliver 007’s iconic lines? Just imagine Stephen Graham saying “the name’s Bond, la, James Bond” and tell me you wouldn’t pay good money to see that happen.
Alternatively, he could actually make a great Bond villain. He would also potentially be starring alongside either Jodie Comer or Michelle Keegan, who are apparently the two frontrunners for the next Bond girl role. In fact, why not both? Let’s start this new Bond era off with a bang, Amazon! Don’t screw it up like you did The Rings of Power.
