65% Of Brazilians Say Women Who Wear Revealing Clothes Deserve To Be Raped

Brazil representing to the max once again right before the World Cup this summer. Of 3,810 people (66.5% of which were women) who were asked to respond to a government survey, about 2,480 — 65% – of them justified raping women who wear “clothing that shows off the body.” Furthermore 58.5% agreed that “if women knew how to behave, there would be fewer rapes.”

Lovely. This coming from a country that hosts an annual Miss Bum Bum Competition, but whatever. How terrible are the women who actually voted this way in the survey? Has to be a jealousy thing. But what’s also screwed up is that even if you think this (which you shouldn’t), there’s no way you should ever admit it.

The survey results sent viral shockwaves and resulted in a ton of Brazilian women getting together to remind the nation that they can wear as much or as little as they want. The hashtag they’re using is titled #NãoMereçoSerEstuprada, which translates to ‘#IDon’tDeserveToBeRaped.’
