It must suck when you’re a musician having technical difficulties on stage, and so fair play to singer Blanco, 19, for improvising during his performance at the prestigious Sanremo Music Festival this week. Blanco, who came 6th for Italy at last year’s Eurovision, finished the track by smashing the stage up instead:

I don’t even think he lost his temper tbh, he just didn’t know what to do because his earpiece wasn’t working, and so he thought it would be funny to trash the stage because I guess he’s used to performing for teenage audiences who would love that sort of thing. It’s only when the music subsided and he heard the crowd booing that he realised he misjudged the situation completely. So much so that he put out an ‘apology’ on Instagram, though it doesn’t read much like an apology from the translation:

Flowers are falling, Ariston (Ariston is the name of the theater where Sanremo is hosted)

Flowers break, Ariston

The curtain falls, Ariston

I put you in tears, Ariston

Like my mom, Ariston

You saw me fragile, Ariston

Like a kid…

And here right here, where

You made me learn how to run,

I fell…

I broke my face and cry,

Ariston

But then…

I laugh, laugh, laugh, laugh, laugh, laugh and scream

Why am I not perfect like you wanted me

But I am finally myself

I love you Ariston

With all my craziness

Ariston is the name of the venue where Sanremo 2023 took place, so I guess he’s gone full emo with it and written a whole song about how sorry he is, although it does come off a bit weird. He’s actually made it seem like a bigger deal than it actually was? Well, certain generation of Italians were very upset with him tbf. The kid’s 19! Cut him some slack.

Imagine what they would say about Sam Smith’s new video… yikes.
