The organiser behind the shambolic Willy Wonka Experience in Glasgow is on a bit of a sympathy quest at the moment as he’s revealed he will no longer be going ahead with his ‘dream wedding’ funded by ticket sales from the event.
The other day, footage of Glaswegian parents yelling and screaming at Billy Coull went viral, following the many hilarious photos and clips doing the rounds of the £35-a-ticket Willy Wonka fiasco.
Amid significant backlash, Coull has now apologised (again) and revealed he has moved out of his family home and cancelled his upcoming destination wedding, according to The Sunday Times:
‘I am truly sorry, it is important for me to add the organisation and decisions surrounding this event were solely my responsibility. I want to make clear anyone who was hired externally or offered their help are not affiliated with me or the company.
‘Regarding a personal matter, there will be no wedding, and no wedding was funded by ticket sales.’
I’m not sure anyone that was scammed out of their £35 or any of this guy’s other business ventures (he was also using ChatGPT to create children’s novels for Amazon) will care about his ‘dream wedding’ being cancelled, as all they want is their money back. Still, fair attempt at getting people to feel sorry for him I suppose.
The amazing thing is that this plum will probably end up making a load of money from the inevitable Netflix documentary. He could also easily end up on I’m A Celebrity or Big Brother. Maybe even The Apprentice?
The real smart money though would be on re-opening the Willy Wonka Experience while this story is still in the news cycle because there’s no doubt now it would be sold out for weeks on end. Any publicity is good publicity, indeed! Billy Coull may have his dream wedding yet…
