I should sue this fool. Own dad exposes why he pulled out a second time. pic.twitter.com/EdTE8PZXh1

We’re told the reason Tommy Fury backed out of the Jake Paul fight for the millionth time was due to being “banned from travel in the US”, but it looks as though the fight may not have been in his best interests anyway, given what dad John Fury told DAZN.
“Tommy wasn’t exactly in training, he’d only had about 10 days because he’d been on holiday and it was a surprising thing for him. I was a way out of it doing these tours and being busy elsewhere so I never got the chance to look at it properly.
When I’ve paid attention, I noticed the whole thing wasn’t right anyway but I said ‘Okay, it is what it is, if you want to go over there and box him, do it. You’re experienced enough now and it’s a 50/50 platform. I know you could be fitter, you’re overweight, but it’s entirely up to yourself because I’m busy and I can’t do it.”
Fury says he reckons Tommy could beat Jake Paul if he prepared for the fight properly:
“Beating a Jake Paul is not a problem, by the way. We don’t look at him as any kind of a threat at all.
I think he realises now that he’s got to get full time training, he needs a good eight week camp, I’ll tweak him up whenever I can when I’m home for a few days here and there during the tour. I can have a look in and see what he’s doing.
At the minute we’re just working on cardio and weight loss because he’s something like 105 kilos at the minute, he’s got to get right down to about 90, so he’s got a bit of work to do.”
So at 105kg, Tommy Fury was 15kg overweight for a fight that was just around the corner. Not sure why he was so unmotivated for the biggest payday of his career, but at least we can always count on John Fury to keep it real even if it does involve throwing his son under the bus. I’m pretty sure John Fury would disown Tommy if he ended up losing to Jake Paul, so maybe this is the best outcome for everyone involved.
Tommy released his own statement following his dad’s comments, insisting he was ready for the fight:
The reason I am not fighting Jake Paul on August 6th in America is because I WAS NOT ALLOWED IN THE COUNTRY.

Well I don’t think John Fury would have made that all up, but if Tommy is serious about fighting Jake Paul then all they have to do rearrange the fight to take place anywhere else in the world. How about Manchester to give him the home advantage? Let’s see if he has any suggestions.
