There have been rumours surrounding the return of the classic dark comedy series ‘The League of Gentleman’ circulating for the past several months, but now it looks like we’ve got official confirmation.

The BBC have confirmed that Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton, Reece Shearsmith and Jeremy Dyson will all return once again to Royston Vasey for three special episodes. And we don’t even have too long to wait – the episodes have been commissioned for Autumn this year to celebrate the show’s 20th anniversary since it started on radio in 1997.
The pioneering sketch show followed the lives of dozens of strange and sinister townspeople, most of whom are played by Gatiss, Pemberton, Shearsmith and Dyson. After launching as a radio show, the sketches were then converted for television, running for three series between 1999 and 2002. Although this is a relatively long gap, the characters and sketches still remain in the memory of its dedicated fans.

I don’t know about you but I can’t wait to see all my favourite characters back together again, including Barbara, the Dentons, Paula, Papa Lazarou and of course Edward and Tubbs. This is a local shop, for local people; there’s nothing for you here!”
