It’s always fairly dramatic when a band that nobody really knows anything about decides to split up because they invariably write some long drawn out statement about why it didn’t work etc etc and nobody really cares about it but it’s ridiculously self indulgent that it’s still kind of funny to have a read of it and laugh your ass of at it. I’m sure there’s a tumblr out there are some of the funniest ones out there.

Anyway, some band from Quebec who I don’t think have ever played a show yet called Witchrot have absolutely nailed the splitting up statement with one of the best I think I’ve ever seen before. Just get a load of the sass that’s conveyed in this one – which is completely fair enough when you consider what’s happened – but it’s still laughable that this guy wanted to put it on the internet:

Jokes. Whilst you’ve gotta feel sorry for Peter that this guitarist just swept in and boned his long term girlfriend (what is it about guitarists eh? always putting their dick where it doesn’t belong) again it’s just so funny that he’s chosen to air his grievances about it in such dramatic fashion all over the internet to strangers he doesn’t even know. I guess that is what happens when you get your heart broken for the first time isn’t it? Sure we’ve all got some dumb stories regarding that one.
The best thing about it is how he just casually dropped in that their drummer died as well? Not sure if that’s true or it’s some kind of joke (I don’t get every reference out there, sorry) but if not RIP to that dude. Kinda crazy that your drummer would die and your guitarist would bang your girlfriend in the same couple of days though isn’t it? That’s one hell of a weekend, but like Peter says at least it’ll inspire him to write some music. Can’t underestimate how important authentic pain is to musical success.
