As I was looking for inspiration this morning, trawling through the badly faked April Fool’s stories I found myself losing the will to live. I’m guessing you’ve all seen the story about the guy who burnt his winkle having sex with a pasty and is now trying to sue Greggs? That simply can’t be true, I’m not having it.
Whilst trying to discern what had actually happened in the world today I came across this incredible story. It could be a fake but I’m fairly sure they don’t have April Fool’s day in India. And the special effects would have cost them too much just for the sake of a prank.
This amazing baby has shocked medics by surviving into its sixth day. Apparently his chances of surviving to day three were one in a million, so to survive to his sixth day would make the odds one in a… sorry I can’t do the maths; suffice it to say it’s an unlikely outcome with a lot of zeros. He was born in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday and is suffering from ectopis cordia which means the boy’s heart is outside of the body.
Ectopis cordia can cause the heart to grow from any part of the body and effects about eight in every million births, but 90% of the babies with this condition are either still born or dead within a few days.
The pictures are on the next page, I’ve put NSFW just in case, but really it’s medical text book stuff. On that note, death metal band Carcass had one of their album covers banned because it was too gory. But the band had actually taken the photos from an award winning pathology text book. It’s all about context I guess…
