It’s pretty much common knowledge that you shouldn’t get too close to an animal’s cage at the zoo, whether you’re trying to play with them or mock them or just trying to get a closer look.

Case in point – this man in Malaysia who couldn’t have appeared less threatening as he approached this single ape at the zoo. Turns out it was a very bad idea indeed:

Blimey – what happened next? Hopefully the ape didn’t start checking to see if the guy had a banana in his pocket because I’m pretty sure that would have ended very badly. Do you think he would have been able to take his shirt off after he was initially grabbed? It would mean leaning his head towards the animal which probably wouldn’t have been a great idea. It’s just wild to see the contrast of the guy freaking out and seeing his life flash before his eyes vs how calm the ape is as he effortlessly overpowers him. Maybe he just wanted a hug?

Anyway, let’s hope the guy managed to escape with his limbs in tact because of all the idiots we’ve seen winding up zoo animals and paying the price, he definitely didn’t deserve it. Remember the guy petting a lion and getting his hand bitten off? When will people learn?
