You might not think a police officer would need a taser to subdue a 10-year-old girl in her own home, but what if that 10-year-old girl is carrying a hammer and threatening to bash her mum’s brains in with it?

Well, then it’s taser time, apparently:

As per Metro, PC Jonathan Broadhead fired twice within seconds of entering the property in southwest London after the youngster’s mum had called 999. This week, a panel decided that PC Broadhead’s use of force was necessary, reasonable, and proportionate, which I think is fair enough, even if the general idea of a grown man tasering a child while the child is running away from them seems excessive at first.

Why did he have to blast her twice, though? Well, apparently ‘he did not believe the first shot had worked.’ Better safe than sorry!
