A Star of David necklace on the famous Amy Winehouse statue in London’s Camden Market has been defaced by a vandal who ruthlessly covered the symbol… with a sticker of the Palestinian flag. Oh the humanity!
There’s been lots of outrage about it on social media today:

A sticker of the Palestinian Authority flag has been stuck over the Star of David on the Amy Winehouse statue in Camden.
But this is just “criticism of Israel”, right?
We have contacted @CamdenMarket, which has assured us that they will remove the sticker.

Disgusting, there is no low they won’t stoop to.

Defacing a statue of the late Amy Winehouse because she wore a Jewish star necklace is truly disgusting.
If you can’t stand to look at a symbol of Judaism on a memorial for a Jewish singer because of your dislike for the Israeli government, perhaps the antisemitism and Israel… pic.twitter.com/rTJcfQsH4A

Horrific antisemitic vandalism of a statue of a dead Jewish woman.
Antizionism is Antisemitism is racism.
UK needs to challenge antisemitism better.

Now I don’t mean to be facetious, but come on, it’s just a sticker some edgy teenager probably whacked on as they were walking by. When I heard that the Amy Winehouse statue in Camden had been defaced, I was sure I was about to read that some prat had graffiti’d the colours of the Palestinian flag onto it or something. Nope, literally just a sticker. I can’t believe these people are tagging Camden Council and asking them to remove the sticker instead of literally just going up to it and peeling it off themselves.
Obviously it’s a childish and petty thing to do, but I just find it hard to get upset about a sticker on a statue when there are tens of thousands of people being blown to smithereens in Palestine as we speak. I wonder what Amy Winehouse would have thought of it all? Guess we’ll never know.
