Until this week, Johnny Depp had been cruising through his defamation trial as he charmed the pants off the entire court and everyone watching at home. There’s been a bit of a shift since Amber Heard took the stand though, describing specific examples of the times Johnny Depp allegedly hit and abused her.

After already accusing him of rape and searching her vagina for drugs, she’s now told the story of the time he slapped her 3 times for laughing at his Winona Ryder tattoo:

Depp’s tattoo previously read ‘Winona forever’, which was a reference to his relationship with actress Winona Ryder, before it was changed to ‘Wino Forever’.

‘He slapped me across the face, and I laughed because I didn’t know what else to do. I thought this must be a joke… I didn’t know what was going on. I didn’t want this to be the reality.

I know you don’t come back from that, I’m not dumb, you can’t hit a woman, you can’t hit a man, you can’t hit anyone.

I knew it was wrong and I knew that I had to leave him and that broke my heart because I didn’t want to leave him… the best thing that ever happened to me.

I wish I could sit here and say I stood up and I walked out of that house and I drew a line and I stood up for myself. I was just looking at the dirty carpet trying to will myself to get up, to walk out of the door.’

She told the court that Depp got down on his knees in tears, and was full of apologies about what had happened, vowing that he had ‘put the monster away’. He apologised ‘profusely’ in the following days. Depp denied the incident ever happened, saying “that is not true, you are mistaken” when asked about it as he re-entered the witness box. When asked if he accepts that Heard made fun of his tattoo, he answered “I don’t recall any argument about any of my tattoos.”

Who knows what to believe? It seems quite a specific story that is unlikely to be made up, but then again we are dealing with professional actors here. It’s just too bad for Amber Heard that Johnny Depp is a far better actor than her. He knows how to sit still and behave casually and realistically in court, whereas Heard has kept a face liked a slapped a*se during proceedings. One thing’s for sure – both these two are absolute drug-addled lunatics who were a match made in hell from the beginning. The trial continues…
