The summer is well and truly here at the moment with the current heatwave being massively enjoyed by everyone in the country – and now even our pets can get involved too thanks to Aldi’s new ice cream range for dogs.

Beechdean Doggy Ice Cream is 100% plant based and will be available in store at Aldi from tomorrow, June 16th. It comes in two different flavours – pea and vanilla or apple and carrot – and is just £2.99 for a packet of four. They’re also made with both fruit and vegetables so not only will your dog really enjoy them, but it’s also really nutritious as well.

Here’s what Julie Ashfield, managing director of buying at Aldi UK, said about the new products:

With more of our customers now owning dogs, we’re delighted to launch a nutritious and tasty treat that will help keep dogs cool in the heat.

Being the first UK supermarket to launch a dog-friendly ice cream comes just in time for summer as we look forward to the warm weather.

I’ve gotta agree that it really is a good idea and I don’t even own a dog. Great to see that our furry friends will be able to enjoy their own ice cream and not steal their owner’s all the time.

There’s also quite a cute promotion to go with the launch as well. Apparently Aldi is partnering with local ice cream vendors – I guess they mean ice cream vans? – in Brighton, Essex and Scotland this weekend to hand out free samples to customers with dogs.

Not sure how you figure out which ice cream vans are offering that service, so maybe just try them all out over the weekend? Gonna be hot anyway so might as well make the most of it by walking around in the heat and eating loads of ice cream. No brainer.

For more of the same, check out this video of a dog swimming party from a few years ago. One of the best videos we’ve ever featured.
