Last week we wrote about the Facebook event ‘Storm Area 51, They Can’t Stop All of Us’ that had been set up inviting people to group up in the Nevada desert on September 20th and then storm the top secret military/alien test site.

The group has gone from 120,000 attending to ONE MILLION attending in the space of a week, with a further 919k ‘interested’. This has prompted the US Air Force to send out a warning that the military “stands ready to protect America and its assets.”
Via The Hill:
Pressed by The Washington Post on Friday about how officials plan to respond to those who turn up to the Nevada base, Air Force spokeswoman Laura McAndrews declined to elaborate on specific details.
However, she did issue a warning to those who may be serious about a plan to infiltrate the Nevada Air Force base.
“[Area 51] is an open training range for the U.S. Air Force, and we would discourage anyone from trying to come into the area where we train American armed forces,” McAndrews told the paper.
“The U.S. Air Force always stands ready to protect America and its assets,” she added.
To be fair, organising and announcing this thing all over Facebook and having it picked up by media outlets all over the world probably wasn’t the smartest idea in the world, even if it was the easiest way to rack up 1,000,000 attendees in the space of a couple weeks. At the end of the day anyone who is actually attending this event on September 20 is an idiot with a death wish.
I mean look at the sort of people we’re dealing with here:

That’s not to say I’m not super curious about the secrets of Area 51, I just don’t really fancy a death march towards one of the most protected sites in all of America alongside a bunch of robot conspiracy theorist weirdos. Let’s hope at least some of them go through with it though and get lit up in the desert, aliens or not.
P.S. Seems strange that all this is going down after Joe Rogan interviewed former Area 51 engineer Bob Lazar on his podcast recently. He did confirm that aliens are real – coincidence?
