Somehow the season six finale of ‘Line Of Duty’ was the most watched television show in the UK this century (I mean it’s fine, but is really that good?) and that coupled with the deeply unsatisfying ending kind of gives the impression that there’s probably a bit more life in the old dog yet, right?

Series creator Jed Mercurio and all the stars have always stated that there were no plans for a seventh series following the finale, but Ted Hastings himself has let slip that there might be some plans in the work. Adrian Dunbar was talking to The Times when he revealed that he was going for a curry with co-stars Martin Compston and Vicky McClure and Mercurio himself where there was probably only going to be one topic of conversation:
There’s a big appetite for more Line of Duty. It could be three or four episodes, I don’t think there’s going to be six for some reason.
It might be two 90 minutes. But it’s all entirely down to Jed what the storyline is going to be. It’s a big ask for him. It’s going to be really good. Maybe someone’s going to die.
Someone’s going to be under threat. He doesn’t mind killing characters off. Maybe he’ll kill us all off. A terrible car crash when we’re rushing to the scene of a crime? We’ll have to leave it to him.
Lol this is too funny? Why would he say all this stuff and even speak about it if it was never going to happen? It seems painfully obvious – at least to me – that plans are already in motion and this is definitely going to happen. This is just the first step of a teaser campaign. You heard it here first.
For more of the same, check out when Jed Mercurio shouted at a journalist for asking about ‘Line Of Duty’. Calm down dude.
