‘Scrubs’ was/is one of those comedies like ‘Friends’ or ‘Sex And The City’ that everyone has seen and everyone knows and is destined to be repeated on some satellite channel until the end of time.

It really did embed itself into popular culture in a way that very few other shows have managed to achieve and so it’s obviously going to be sad news when it was announced that one of the most iconic characters on the show has passed away at the age of just 56. Sam Lloyd played Ted, the hapless lawyer at Scared Heart and appeared in pretty much very episode, mostly being berated by Dr Kelso.
He was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour in early 2019, which was later found to be the result of mestastatisked lung cancer and he passed away from this over the weekend. Zach Braff led the tributes on Twitter, whilst ‘Scrubs’ creator Bill Lawrence also offered his condolences:
Rest In Peace to one of the funniest actors I’ve ever had the joy of working with. Sam Lloyd made me crack up and break character every single time we did a scene together. He could not have been a kinder man. I will forever cherish the time I had with you, Sammy. pic.twitter.com/wwyvGNbveG

Spent the night watching clips of Sam (The songs! The greatest sweaty pratfall of all time!) Those who reached out, our “Scrubs family” appreciates it – he had the biggest heart of all of us. But now send all those good thoughts to his family. And to your own loved ones.
Sad. RIP Sam Lloyd and thanks for everything.
For more of the same, here’s Zach Braff discovering he’s the face of erectile dysfunction in Russia. Damn.
