So yeah, it’s not much of a surprise that the Olympic buildings got a bit of a hammering, everything got a hammering.

The bobsleigh and luge track did get used for World Cup competitions after the Olympics but it also came in handy for a more violent use during the siege. It became a Bosnian-Serb artillery stronghold during the war and is nowadays a target of frequent vandalism, it still bears the scars of war in the form of defensive holes drilled by the troops:
Many areas on Mount Bjelasnica are now total no-go zones. The ski runs were never used after the Olympics and became regular sites of gun battles. They’re still out-of-bounds today because of the strong possibility of undetonated land mines. There were talks of fixing some of the ski runs up and opening a new visitor centre, but the cost of making the place safe again may well nip that plan in the bud.
