Props to Jacob Harris for this tip. I don’t know how many of you were watching Champions League last night – probably most of you – but if you were you were probably watching Chelsea get spanked by Juventus as Roberto Di Matteo bit the bullet. If you were then you might have heard about the events in the game between Nordsjaelland and Shakhtar in which Shakhtar striker Luiz Adriano broke every gentleman’s rule in the book and scored from a long punt up the field after a Shakhtar played had been injured and Nordsjaelland rolled the ball out to let him be treated. Shakhtar were just booting the ball back to them so they could get on with it but Luiz Adriano ran onto it and scored when he was one on one with the keeper. Interestingly, Nordsjaelland scored almost immediately from the restart, which brought up the question of whether the Shakhtar players let this happen or not. Nobody seems to know. Anyway, Shakhtar went on to win the game 5-2 with Luiz Adriano scoring a hat trick and everyone talked about what a bad sportsman Luiz Adriano was and everyone thought that was that. Well it wasn’t. Check out highlights of the game HERE (tried to embed the link but couldn’t) and then meet me after the video.
But yeah Jacob Harris told me that apparently this dude Luiz Adriano has a twitter account @luizadriano9 (although it’s unverified, but he only has 8000 followers so that isn’t that surprising) and although it’s in Portuguese I used a translator to check out what he was tweeting about and this is really funny. You would think that after scoring a goal such as the one he did in that game he might be really embarrassed or something. Like I remember ages ago there was one game where Kanu (I think???) did it after he had just signed for Arsenal against Ipswich and they won 1-0 and there was such an outrage about it that the game actually got replayed. In fairness to Kanu he had only been in the country for a day or something so didn’t really know about that rule but it seems like Luiz Adriano has been playing for Shakhtar for a while so probably knew what was happening so there wasn’t really any excuse for him doing what he did in that game and being such a dick about it.
You might have thought that he might take to his social networking site to maybe apologise about this, but no, instead he’s posting instagram shots of him going around the keeper and then celebrating after the goal. And it’s the fvcking dickhead goal he scored, not one of the other three that he scored last night. I don’t really get why he would do that unless he was completely retarded. You can check out the two pictures from his feed below:

The second one has some Portuguese text in it (which I highlighted in the screengrab for you, pretty cool huh?) which when translated says ‘I cry and release’ which sounds like a really weird/dickhead thing to say when you’ve just scored a goal that goes completely against fair play and the rulebook, right? Is he just trying to be antagonistic or is he braindead or what? He doesn’t even seem to use twitter that much so it seems kind of a weird thing to tweet though and just a way to rile up anyone who actually knew he had a twitter account. Which is seemingly no-one considering he has less followers than Ravel Morrison. Except Jacob Harris. It just seems like a way to make the whole world see you as a massive dickhead though, don’t you think?
Interestingly, since I started writing this article he’s also retweeted the following tweet from one of his followers which puts the whole thing in a bit of a different light. Although not really, it just makes his actions slightly more understandable. Here’s the tweet:

As you can see, the Nordsjaelland player took a dive which led to the game being stopped and Shakhtar punting the ball up the field. Sure, the Nordsjaelland player collides with Luiz Adriano and he kinda shoves him but it’s definitely in the stomach and not in the face, which is what the Nordsjaelland player is holding as he writhes around on the floor like a twat. Luiz Adriano is clearly pissed off about this in this video and you can speculate that’s why he raced onto the long punt downfield and scored, and why he subsequently posted all those pictures on his twitter feed about crying and releasing.
Now, this isn’t exactly like Ruud Van Nistelrooy scoring a penalty against Arsenal after he missed that one and all the Arsenal players jumped around in his face and pushed him around, but I can kinda almost understand his reasoning for doing it, and I’m a lot more sympathetic to it now than I was last night when I just thought he was a twat – however I still think he was a bit of a twat because although the Nordsjaelland player was a bit of a dick there’s no dobuting he was more of a dick and did something that goes against everything you’re taught as a footballer growing up. Granted, so is diving to try and get someone sent off – I’m guessing that’s what the Norsjaelland player was trying to do as they weren’t exactly going to get a free kick in a dangerous area or anything – but that kind of stuff does happen more often than what Luiz Adriano did. And considering that FIFA have just charged Luiz Adriano with unsporstmanlike conduct for his goal last night and could face a huge fine or suspension which is pretty crazy it makes the whole situation a lot more interesting than it was a couple of hours ago as there could potentially be a huge debate and backlash over this.
Even more interestingly, Luiz Adriano tweeted a link to the video that he tweeted a link to about an hour ago LAST NIGHT too, only this video has been deleted by FIFA due to a copyright claim. I got a screengrab of that too in case it gets deleted:
Now, FIFA does copyright claim a lot of shit on YouTube BUT maybe we’re stumbling onto some kind of FIFA conspiracy here. I don’t know what they’re really conspiring against – except Luiz Adriano who was a bit of a twat in any case – but that’s kinda exciting isn’t it? I don’t really know what to say about this though and who’s side I’m on though because admittedly both sides were twats, only with this new evidence if definitely looks as though Luiz Adriano was less of a twat then everyone thought he was to begin with. I don’t normally like ending articles with questions but what does everyone reading this make of this? Was he right or wrong and are FIFA right to throw the book at him and not this other Nordsjaelland player who I don’t think ANYONE has mentioned yet? Let me know in the comments.
In the meantime I’ll leave you with another couple of highlights from Luiz Adriano’s twitter feed: the day he got Call of Duty Black Ops and him asleep in his hotel bed:
