An XL Bully was fatally tasered by police in Manchester the other day after officers responded to reports of men being seen with machetes.
The footage shows a man being handcuffed by officers while a dog sniffs around the situation and starts barking and jumping up at them. In the end, they felt threatened enough to taser the animal and it ultimately died. Here’s the video (warning – contains distressing footage):

A good boy in the wrong place, just trying to protect its owner? Perhaps. But I’m not really sure you can blame the officers for protecting themselves in what could have turned into an absolute bloodbath if they didn’t deal with it. If anything it’s the idiot owner who is to blame for running around with a machete and creating the situation in the first place, and then getting his dog involved in it. Couldn’t they have tasered him instead, rather than faff around with handcuffs for all that time?
Greater Manchester Police said: ‘Several tactics were utilised in an attempt to safely restrain the dog.
‘To mitigate the danger posed to the public and officers at the scene, the dog was tasered.’
They also confirmed that two 16-year-old boys have been charged with robbery and possession of an offensive weapon.
Not been a great couple years for XL Bullies. RIP little guy.
