Virginia Giuffre, one of Jeffrey Epstein’s most high-profile victims who accused Prince Andrew of sexually assaulting her as a teenager, has died by suicide, according to her family.
All sorts of theories were flying around earlier this month after Giuffre shared a video from hospital claiming she had been involved in a horrific road accident and had ‘days to live’; a claim that police shut down after saying the only reported crash in the area was a minor one in which there were no reported injuries.
Fast forward to this morning, and Virginia Giuffre, 41, has died in Neergabby, Australia, where she lived.
In a statement, her family told NBC News:
“It is with utterly broken hearts that we announce that Virginia passed away last night at her farm in Western Australia.
“She lost her life to suicide, after being a lifelong victim of sexual abuse and sex trafficking.
“Virginia was a fierce warrior in the fight against sexual abuse and sex trafficking. She was the light that lifted so many survivors.
“In the end, the toll of abuse is so heavy that it became unbearable for Virginia to handle its weight.”
Virginia Giuffre spent decades speaking out about the abuse she suffered from Epstein, and in 2019 made public the allegations against Prince Andrew. She claims she was forced to sleep with him when she was just 17, and he was 41, after Epstein and his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell had trafficked her to London.
In 2021, she filed a lawsuit against Prince Andrew, and a year later, accepted an out-of-court settlement from the Duke of York in the region of millions of pounds.
Now naturally a lot of saying there must be more to Virginia Giuffre’s death and that perhaps she was taken out in the same way in which Jeffrey Epstein (assumedly) was, but then what would be the point of that, since they already paid her off years ago?
Yes, the claims she made after her recent supposed accident didn’t make any sense – that’s not dismissing her in general – but apparently she’s been erratic since she became world-famous over her traumas, and if you consider her past experiences and everything that followed, it’s no shock that she may have simply had enough.
RIP Virginia Giuffre – may she finally be at peace.
