The 19-year-old lad who’s been working out just one side of his traps for almost a year may be loving the attention now, but a doctor has warned that he’s doing serious damage to his health in the long term.
The Crooked Man, as he calls himself, went viral last week after revealing his workout regime of doing trapezius exercises with just one arm, meaning just one of his traps gets developed. The end result? That area of his body looks completely weird and asymmetrical and deformed:
Dr. Suhail Hussain has now spoken to LadBible about what the health implications are of the Crooked Man’s approach to bodybuilding:
“As a doctor, I’d be concerned about the clear musculoskeletal imbalance this man is developing.
“Overdeveloping one muscle group, especially to such an extreme degree can lead to a range of health issues: spinal misalignment, joint strain, compensatory injuries in surrounding muscles and even chronic pain.
“The body is designed for symmetry and balance, so distorting that through disproportionate hypertrophy risks long-term orthopaedic problems.”
Dr. Hussain did note that The Crooked Man could benefit in the short-term from ‘increased strength or function in that one muscle’, but what use is that when you look like a total freak and are risking a catalogue of health issues in the long term?
He also added there was ‘no real functional benefit to overtraining’ one side of your trapezius muscle ‘as their primary function is one of support and stabilisation of surrounding structures’, and so the muscle isn’t even being used in a way that justifies its size.
Dr. Hussain also went into how this approach ‘can affect posture and gait’, but this actually seems to be the point of this whole experiment by The Crooked Man, who explained earlier that he’s ‘looksminimising’ as a counter to the current ‘looksmaxxing’ trend that’s taking over TikTok.
Essentially, other lads his age are doing everything they can to improve their aesthetics, but he wants to go against the grain:
“I was scrolling TikToks in my Ferrari, and I kept getting these looksmaxing TikToks.”
“And they were like, ‘Do this, do that. You’ll look more attractive. You’ll get more women.”
“And it’s like, people have that problem? I have the opposite problem.
“I get so many DMS, I don’t even have time to get through them all.
“So I was like, ‘If I have the opposite problem, then I need the opposite solution. What’s the opposite of looksmaxing? Looksminimizing’.”
“What was the best way to looksminimize? Become more asymmetrical.
“Work out one trap, it solved my problem. And man, it has worked like a charm.”
Is he actually being for real? It’s hard to say, but it looks like he’s going all in with this experiment regardless.
Apparently he’s also building just one arm and one leg, and so soon enough he will look even more ridiculous than he already does. Might be best to heed the doctor’s advice on this one before it’s too late.
