Adrien Brody secured the award for Best Actor at the Oscars last night for his role as László Tóth in ‘The Brutalist’, but had an awkward moment as he made his to the stage and realised he had chewing gum in his mouth.
For some reason, Brody thought it would be a good idea to pull the chewing gum out of his mouth and toss it towards the crowd, where his girlfriend Georgina Chapman caught it in her hands. WTF? Watch below:
You would think Adrien Brody would then use his speech to apologise to his girlfriend for making her hold his gum while he accepted his award, but nope, he didn’t even mention it.
Everyone on X/Twitter is now calling Brody ‘gross’ and ‘tacky’ and ‘disgusting’ and wondering why he couldn’t have jus swallowed the gum or disposed of it into a tissue, but shouldn’t they be celebrating his girlfriend instead? I mean, we should all hope to find a partner who would very willingly catch our gum for us in desperate times of need, like when we’re about to give an excruciatingly long and boring acceptance speech after winning an award at the Oscars. That’s a real supportive girlfriend right there.
