Another day, another grown woman claiming to be Madeleine McCann. This time – a 22-year-old from Arkansas who claims she has DNA proof that she is the missing British child.
Eugenea Collins says she first started to think that she was Madeleine when she saw Julia Wandelt – the Polish girl who also claims to be Maddie – appear on Dr. Phil’s show. When she then couldn’t get a copy of her birth certificate, that led her to question her identity even further.
Eugenea also believes that her biological dad – Eugene Collins – is convicted paedophile and main suspect in the case Christian Brueckner. Wait, what?
Eugenea says:
‘I am unable to get any kind of identification. I couldn’t even get any help from the people at the red cross when my house was burned because I have no identification.
‘I have never seen an original birth certificate neither. The only thing I saw had someone else’s name wrote on it and they marked that out and wrote mine above it.’
Talking about her dad, she said:
‘I saw pictures of the suspect and he looks like my biological father or who I’ve been told is my biological father my whole life.
‘I never had any relationship with this man whatsoever and I was always told he was a little off in the head.
‘When I first saw the photos of Christian Brueckner I instantly recognised that man.’
Eugenea also claims she wrote about her kidnapping while in school and described herself wearing a dress similar to one Maddie McCann wore.
‘If it wasn’t for me seeing her (Julia) on the Dr. Phil show I would’ve never known. In a way her stupidity actually helped me find my family.
‘I saw the age progressions and it was like I was looking in a mirror. I just know I saw pictures of myself online and it says I’m missing.’
As for the DNA ‘proof’ that Eugenea claims she has, it’s actually just an AncestryDNA test which shows she is 68% English and Northwestern European. Eugenea is convinced that this helps prove her case, and her next step was to then have Gerry & Kate McCann provide their own DNA samples for comparison.
Unfortunately for Eugenea, neither the Metropolitan Police (who she contacted from the States) or her local police department in Arkansas have taken her seriously, so she’s at a loss for what to do next.
I guess she thought that maybe people online would be more receptive to the idea that she is Madeleine McCann, but from the looks of it no one on the internet believes her either:
The public have spoken. Although in fairness to Eugenea, she does look more like Maddie than the Polish girl who is most definitely not Maddie. Could this kick off some kind of battle of the Madeleines where a whole bunch of other girls claiming to be Maddie turn up to the party as well? Surely there’s a reality TV show in there somewhere.
