Scary moments for Emma Raducanu at the Dubai Tennis Championships this week after a spectator was removed from the crowd for exhibiting ‘fixated behaviour’ towards her. It’s not the first time Raducanu has had to deal with a stalker – apparently she’s got 3 or 4 open FBI cases regarding weird men who are obsessed with her. What is wrong with these people?

22-year-old Raducanu spotted the man, who she had been previously approached by, in the crowd during her match with Karolina Muchova. She immediately broke down and hid behind the umpire as security ejected the man:

The Women’s Tennis Association has since issued this statement:

On Monday, February 17, Emma Raducanu was approached in a public area by a man who exhibited fixated behavior. This same individual was identified in the first few rows during Emma’s match on Tuesday at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships and subsequently ejected. He will be banned from all WTA events pending a threat assessment.   Player safety is our top priority, and tournaments are advised on security best practices for international sporting events. The WTA is actively working with Emma and her team to ensure her well-being and provide any necessary support. We remain committed to collaborating with tournaments and their security teams worldwide to maintain a safe environment for all players.

All things considered, Emma did well to continue the match against Muchova, but ended up suffering defeat. I mean, imagine competing in a high-stakes competitive tennis match and out of the corner of your eye you see a wide-eyed stalker staring at you and licking his lips (possibly) from the first few rows. No wonder she was so rattled!

I’m not sure what Raducanu’s interaction was like with this man the day before, but it was clearly enough to freak her out to the point that she ended up in tears and hid behind the umpire until she was sure he had been ejected.

Previously, another of Raducanu’s stalkers had trekked 23 MILES to stalk the tennis star outside her house, even decorating a tree outside her property and leaving her a gift bag. He ended up being given a five-year restraining order, so let’s hope this new chap receives something similar.
