Back in 2016, Snoop Dogg was the most anti-Trump guy around. He put out a Donald Trump diss track in which he “shot” Trump in the head in the music video, and also promised to go after any “sell-out” rappers who endorsed or performed for Donald Trump during his Presidency.
Well, it seems like Snoop has had a change of heart, after he performed at Trump’s Crypto Ball in Washington, DC, the other night, which is just one of several inaugural events lined up to welcome Trump into office for his second term as President.
Previously, in 2016, Snoop said he didn’t understand how someone like Trump could be president. “F*** Donald Trump,” he wrote on Instagram. “We ain’t voting for your punk a**. Go get you a new hairdo, b**** a** [N-word].”
He encouraged people not to vote for Trump ahead of the 2020 election, saying: “If you do vote for him, y’all some stupid motherf***ers.”
More recently however, Snoop Dogg had this to say about Trump in an interview with The Times:
‘Donald Trump? He ain’t done nothing wrong to me. He has done only great things for me.’
Too funny. I wonder what changed? It could have something to do with the fact that Trump pardoned Snoop’s Death Row Records peer Michael Harris in 2021, after he’d been locked up for 33 years on drugs charges. Commenting on the pardon, Snoop said:
‘I have nothing but love and respect for Donald Trump.’
Snoop Dogg isn’t the only rapper who is now openly supporting and performing for Trump on stage this week. Fellow rappers Nelly, Kodak Black, Soulja Boy, Rod Wave and Fivio Foreign are all lined up to take the stage at upcoming events.
Naturally, the internet is really unhappy with Snoop’s 180, saying really unkind things about him on forums like Reddit:
I think that last comment is probably spot on. I mean, let’s face it, Snoop Dogg doesn’t need any more money. But imagine someone you absolutely despite giving your buddy his freedom back after 33 years spent behind bars. You’d probably warm up to them a little bit too. Seems like a win-win for everyone involved.
For the time Snoop Dogg was welcomed to Scotland with bagpipes playing Still D.R.E. at the airport, click HERE. What a video.
