Jude Law may want to steer clear of any balconies for a while, because he’s just confirmed that he’s set to play Vladimir Putin in upcoming movie ‘The Wizard of the Kremlin.’

The 52-year-old British screen legend told Deadline:

“I haven’t really started work on it yet,. I mean, I have, but at the moment it looks like an Everest to climb, so I’m in the foothills looking up thinking, ’Oh Christ, what have I said?’ “

“That’s often how I feel whilst I say yes. I was going, ’Oh God, how am I going to do this?’ But anyway, that’s for me to sort out.”

Directed by French filmmaker Olivier Assayas, ‘The Wizard of the Kremlin’ follows Putin, now 72, “at the beginning of his governing career.” I guess there’s some resemblance between Jude Law and a young Putin:

Surely there’ll be at least one shot of Jude Law topless on a horse? I mean, if they don’t include that scene in a film about Vladimir Putin then what are we even doing with this movie? I bet Putin would feel flattered by that too, although I suppose his overall sentiment will depend on how he will portrayed in the rest of the movie. My guess is: not good. Will Putin’s beef then be with Jude Law’s imitation of him or with the screenwriters and producers who wrote it?

‘The Wizard of the Kremlin’ will also star Paul Dano, Alicia Vikander and Zach Galifianakis…

Will be interesting to see how this one pans out. If I were Jude Law or any of the actors or crew involved in this though, I wouldn’t be visiting Russia for a while.
