Yet another scandal has hit the BBC as Gregg Wallace steps down from Masterchef following misconduct allegations which include telling inappropriate jokes, walking around naked with only a sock concealing his manhood, and simulating a sex act with a production member as she knelt down to clean a mark on his trousers.
Hilariously, Rod Stewart saw this as the perfect time to publicly rip into Gregg Wallace, who apparently ‘humiliated’ his wife during an episode of Masterchef some time ago. Here’s what Stewart had to say:
Beautiful. Just beautiful. From the way he (purposely?) misspells his name by leaving out the extra ‘g’ to then calling him ‘tubby’ and ‘bald-headed’ while accusing him of being a bully. The best part though is how he’s mugged him off with white text/black background and then signed off ‘SIR Rod Stewart’. Absolute perfection.
Plus, we all know how much Gregg Wallace hates it when someone leaves off the ‘g’ on Gregg:
Rod Stewart’s wife Penny Lancaster appeared on Celebrity Masterchef in 2021, making it nearly all the way to the semi-final before being booted off. Gregg Wallace had complained about her timekeeping abilities and called her 10-minute delay ‘serious’. Still, no one had any idea until now that tensions were so high on the show, because as Stewart claims, those clips were not used on TV.
Thus far, 13 people have accused Greg Wallace of making inappropriate sexual comments, including former Newsnight’s Kirsty Wark, who competed on Celebrity MasterChef in 2011.
BBC News reported that Wallace was accused of talking openly about his sex life, telling a junior female colleague that he wasn’t wearing boxer shorts under his jeans, and taking his top off in front of another female colleague and saying that he wanted to ‘give her a fashion show’.
Naturally, Wallace’s lawyers have said the claims are “entirely false”.
Fair play to Rod Stewart for waiting three years and seizing the moment to attack Gregg Wallace when he’s at his lowest. As with all the other creeps and weirdos who worked at the BBC, you have to wonder how long everyone behind the scenes knew about his behaviour before it broke publicly. I mean, this is a guy who once said he’d “smash the living daylights” out of one of the desserts on Masterchef: The Professionals, which is a pretty weird thing to say.
Looking into it, it seems like the concerns were raised years ago about Gregg Wallace talking openly about his sex life and making inappropriate comments, and the BBC had a 90-minute meeting with him about not doing it again. Well, he completely ignored their advice and continuing doing it, so this downfall was always inevitable.
On the plus side, he now has more time to spend ignoring his autistic son at home while he plays video games, so that’s nice.
