So this clip has gone viral of Leo DiCaprio leaving a hotel in Fiji while being serenaded by the hotel staff. It seems like it’s a tradition over there to do this as guests leave the hotel, but Leo has absolutely no time for it at all. Here’s the footage:

Now, I’m not sure what people expect Leo to do here. Did they want him to conjure up some fake Hollywood tears to show his gratefulness to the staff? The general consensus seems to be that his behaviour was ‘rude’, ‘disrespectful’, ‘ignorant’ and all the rest of it. Some people are even accusing him of faking that phone call so he didn’t have to acknowledge what was going on! Which may be true, but how do we know it wasn’t a super important phone call about saving the environment while he’s on his way to stepping onto his private jet?

It’s also possible that Leo was hungover, in which case the last thing you need is a choir of hotel workers yelling at you as you leave the premises with your shades on indoors. In fact you might even say it’s disrespectful of the hotel to bait up such a high profile guest in this manner. Unfortunately for Leo, he’s an A-list megastar whose every move is studied under a microscope, so if he’s having an off-day for whatever reason, people are going to make out like he’s this ruthless villain who is impolite to hotel workers. Oh well, I’m sure he’ll get over it.
