There hasn’t really been any news on GTA 6 ever since the first reveal trailer dropped all the way back in December 2023, so all we’ve really been able to do since then is keep re-watching the trailer and hoping that any new GTA 6 into will leak out.

Well, following today’s meeting with Rockstar’s parenting company, Take-Two, there have been some updates on what is surely the most anticipated video game of all time – 11 whole years in the making!

At the end of the trailer, we got a rather vague ”Grand Theft Auto VI, coming 2025′ announcement, but if we now look at the documents published ahead of the earnings call with Take-Two, we not only have confirmation that they’re still on course for a 2025 release date, but also a narrower window of when that release could happen.

The release reads: “With many exciting new titles coming in fiscal 2026 – including GTA 6 in the Fall, Borderlands 4 and Mafia: The Old Country – we expect to create long-term value for our shareholders.”

Fiscal 2026 refers to the financial year that starts in April 2025 and ends in March 2026. So it looks like GTA 6 is on course for a similar release date to its predecessor, which came out on 17 September, 2013.

This is especially reassuring given there were some rumours going around about a potential delay to 2026, which would be utterly heartbreaking for millions of gamers worldwide. It doesn’t seem like we need to worry about that for now, though.

Previously, Reddit user Well_Look_Whos_Back, who previously predicted the GTA 6 trailer release date and theme song, has now revealed the following features for the game:

  • dual wielding weapons confirmed

  • gore and dismemberment in game

  • different color sunsets (orange, purple, pinkish)

  • Basketball 3v3 (also noted Rockstar Games and LeBron James tagged each other when the trailer released. Would be cool if they used him for motion capture)

  • It will be harder to car jack NPC’s

  • The gameplay leak we saw is an old build the game will look much better

  • This is apparently nothing like the real map and no one will know what it looks like before the game comes out

A bunch of GTA 6 Reddit mods also got together and put out a list that they believe is all the latest confirmed and semi-confirmed info about GTA 6, as well as a couple features that they believe are still up in the air:

Confirmed:
Option to surrender to the cops.
Eagle Eye feature from RDR2 for highlighting items/targets.
Dual-wielding weapons.
NPC interaction menu from RDR2 returns.
Specific tools required for in-game actions (e.g., lockpicks, cutters).
Game events and missions broadcast on news and social media, with NPC reactions.
Semi-Confirmed:
Starts with a robbery mission.
Most minigames in any GTA game: Golf, Basketball, Tennis, Pool, and a new fishing minigame with diving and harpooning sea animals like fish, dolphins, sharks.
Discovery/tracking system for vehicles/animals similar to RDR2. Entering a vehicle adds it to your discovery list, and discovering vehicles unlocks new modifications.
Lucia and Jason share a house that changes throughout the story.
Some missions playable with both Lucia and Jason.
The game’s map evolves over time.
Unknown:
Consideration of real-life cryptocurrency and NFTs, likely scrapped.
No plans for future single-player expansions.

Exciting stuff. Here’s hoping we get a second trailer soon enough too, given it’s coming up to a year since the first one.
