There’s nothing like trying to insert yourself into a news story that has nothing to do with you, but seeing as Gemma Collins doesn’t seem to be doing much else these days, she’ll take the headlines where she can get them.
The TOWIE legend has said she was ‘very lucky’ to survive a freak storm that sank the luxury superyacht of a man once described as ‘Britain’s Bill Gates’ on Monday morning.
The unexpected tornado at sea sank multi-millionaire Mike Lynch’s Bayesian superyacht near Porticello fishing village off the coast of Sicily, with one man confirmed dead and six people still missing out of 22 that the yacht was carrying.
Never mind them, though, because Gemma Collins was also affected by the catastrophic weather, and claims it left her ‘stuck for four hours’.
In the caption of a photo taken on a boat, Gemma explained:
‘Holiday update my heartfelt condolences to the people and families involved in the tragic disaster at sea in Sicily ❤️
‘I was very lucky me and my nephew survived the storm at sea 🌊
‘I am shaken and returning to the UK tomorrow god was on our side today 🙏🏻😘 we was stuck for 4 hours can you imagine what was going through my mind 🙏🏻thank you @bluediamondcruise for getting us back safely ❤️’
Phew! Thank goodness Gemma Collins is OK. Now all we have to do is hope for the safe return of those who are still missing from the Bayesian superyacht, including Jonathan Bloomer, chairman of Morgan Stanley International, and his wife, along with Mike Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter Hannah.
Divers have been searching for the bodies and survivors but have yet to locate the six missing individuals. Still, even in a worst case scenario, it’s important to remember that Gemma Collins was almost a victim too and miraculously lived to tell the tale…
After lapping up the concern and well-wishes from her followers, Gemma shared another image on her Instagram story of an alcoholic drink which she captioned ‘As you all know I don’t drink but tonight I need 2!!!!’
Meanwhile, 35-year-old James Argent is still reeling from the break-up from his 19-year-old model actress Stella Turian. Maybe Gemma’s brush with death will convince him that she was the one for him after all?
