History was made at UFC Apex Fight Night at the weekend, with the first-ever boob punch TKO taking place in the bout between Melissa Gatto and Tamires Vidal.
Gatto punched Vidal directly in the t1tty, which is completely legal in MMA (unlike a groin strike where you’re given time to recuperate). With Vidal stunned and tending to her damaged boob, Gatto followed up with a few more shots and the ref had no choice but to call for the TKO:

Looks like it’s an innie now. Obviously we hope Vidal gets better soon and I’m sure being punched in the boob absolutely sucks, but it’s still pretty funny to see a boob punch TKO in the UFC. I wonder if targeting the breasts will become more common in women’s MMA now that this incident occurred? You have to think that other female competitors were watching very closely indeed.
On the other hand, maybe Dana White will move to make boob punches illegal? Either way – history has been made so fair play to these ladies for being part of it.
