For the uninitiated, Ice Spice is a rapper from the Bronx who is one the biggest names in music right now, owing mostly to her song ‘Munch’ which came out in 2022. What is a ‘Munch’, you ask? I’ll allow Urban Dictionary to explain:
Clearly Ice Spice is the perfect role model for her young fan base, who have helped her amass billions of streams on Spotify and TikTok (where she’s especially popular). Unfortunately, she’s also managed to wind up an older generation of music lovers with her latest release – a version of Sean Paul’s dancehall classic Gimme The Light, which Ice Spice previewed on social media earlier:

Think we all know the answer to that last Tweet – because he’s going to make serious bank off it. In fact he’s on the Ice Spice Instagram page right now bigging up the song and using hashtags and everything:
Well, don’t hate the player, hate the game, I suppose. Easier to rework an old classic that is guaranteed to get millions of streams rather than come up with something original. At least she’s putting some effort in over on Instagram:
