South Yorkshire Police are still investigating the viral video of the man who was filmed nibbling a child’s ear in the background of the World Snooker Championship on BBC One the other week, with footage of the incident sparking all kinds of worrying theories all over the internet.

Here it is again in case you missed it:

Obviously the main concern is that this man is potentially a paedophile who is abusing his own child or some other kid and was caught in the act live on TV, but it’s important to remember that this is only speculation and no one can categorically say for sure one way or another until the police have properly investigated.

In the meantime, the internet has been doing some investigating of its own, and found the likely identity of the ear-nibbler: a man named Stefano Voci who had travelled from Milan, Italy to the UK to watch the snooker.

42-year-old Stefano Voci’s (since-deleted) Facebook profile included loads of photos of penis-shaped plants as well as videos of shirtless boys dancing. Which, again, isn’t proof of anything, but probably not a good look considering the allegations.

Someone managed to screen-record some examples of his weird Facebook profile before he deleted it:

A bunch of people are now reporting Stefano Voci to the authorities in Italy, given it’s possible he’s back there now. You would hope South Yorkshire Police had already taken care of that, but I guess it doesn’t hurt to make sure.

Please remember that this is a matter for the law, and only police should be taking any kind of action regarding the suspect, who again is not 100% confirmed despite the internet’s investigatory work. Here’s hoping the police get to the bottom of it ASAP.
