Horrific story out of Los Angeles this week as a mum-of-two murdered her partner and threw her kids out of a moving car, after driving herself crazy with conspiracy theories about Monday’s solar eclipse.

Astrology influencer and “healer” Danielle Cherakiyah Johnson, 34, who also performed as R&B singer Ayoka, sent out multiple warnings to her 104,000 followers not to look at the eclipse as ‘something big is coming’. She was convinced the eclipse was ‘the epitome of spiritual warfare’, whatever that means…

Come Monday, the day of the eclipse, Danielle stabbed her boyfriend, Jaelen Allen Chaney, 29, to death during an argument in the kitchen of their flat as her nine-year-old daughter looked on in horror.

Danielle left a trail of blood leading to the lift when she fled the scene, bundling her two daughters – aged eight months and nine years – into a Porsche Cayenne.

After ramming the apartment complex gates with the black car, she then sped down the highway where she chucked both daughters out of the car.

She continued speeding down the highway faster than 100mph for 30 minutes before claiming a third life – her own – by crashing into a tree.

Her eight-month-old was found dead on the road. Her older daughter – who was holding her sister at the time – survived with moderate injuries. Tragically, the eight-month-old would have survived too, but was hit by another car on the highway after being thrown from the vehicle with her sister.

Scrolling through her Twitter feed, it’s clear that Danielle Cherakiyah Johnson was experiencing some kind of paranoid, psychotic episode. All sorts of Tweets about the incoming apocalypse, how Jews run the world, QAnon conspiracy theories, and so forth. It seems like she had gone off the rails a while ago, but of course no one could have predicted that she would snap to the point where she’d pull a murder-suicide on her partner and children, with the solar eclipse being the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Devastating to think of her nine-year-old daughter as the only surviving victim who has just lost her family and had to witness it all and now live with it for the rest of her life. I don’t know if there’s enough therapy in the world that can help a child come to terms with that. Thoughts as well with the driver who inadvertently ran over her sister after their mother had already thrown them into traffic. Can’t even begin to imagine how bad they must be feeling right now.

Just such a tragic story and extra shocking given that women are so rarely family annihilators. RIP also to Jaelen Allen Chaney, who starred alongside Daniella AKA Ayoka in one of her music videos…
