Horrifying footage out of London after a man was attacked with what looks like a 10-inch hunting knife on the Southeastern service just after departing Shortlands railway station, towards Beckenham Junction, on Wednesday afternoon.
A distressing clip of the incident, which happened in broad daylight, on a busy commuter train, in front of dozens of screaming passengers, is going viral:

Awful, just awful. Police have launched an appeal for witnesses to come forward and no arrests have been made so far. Not very reassuring that a masked maniac can go on a knife rampage on a busy commuter train in a city like London and successfully flee the scene, is it?
A BTP spokesperson said:
“Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man was seriously injured at Beckenham Junction today.
“At around 3.56pm today (27 March), we received reports of two men fighting while entering a train at Shortlands railway station. A man sustained serious injuries consistent with being stabbed.
“Officers attended, alongside colleagues from the Metropolitan Police Service and the London Ambulance Service, and the victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Enquiries are ongoing and there have been no arrests so far.”
You’d think there’s enough CCTV on trains, at train stations and around London in general to track this thug down, so let’s hope we get an update on this soon. In the meantime, thoughts and prayers with the victim and let’s hope they make a full recovery. Maybe it’s time to start stop & searching people who walk around in balaclavas or dark face coverings? Just an idea.
