The dumbest weightlifter on the planet has had 39 coins and 37 magnets removed from his intestine after he swallowed the metals under the assumption that ”zinc helps in bodybuilding.”
X-rays taken before the surgery inside Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi show massive metal clots forming in the unnamed 26-year-old’s intestines after he spent several weeks ingesting the coins, as he thought he’d found an ingenious shortcut to mass gains that no one else had ever thought of before.
The meathead believed he could absorb zinc from literal coins and magnets — and thought eating the items would aid in that process. Unsurprisingly, all it accomplished was an intestinal obstruction in his body, which required emergency surgery after the man was rushed to hospital with complaints of vomiting and excruciating abdominal pain.
In the end, here’s what they pulled out from his intestine and stomach:
The surgeons noted that the magnets and coins had lumped together into two separate loops in the small intestine, with the magnetic force leading them to lock and cause an erosion along the intestinal wall. Yikes.
Lucky for him, the surgeons were able to open the intestines and remove all the coins and magnets. A large amount of the metals were also found in his stomach and promptly removed.
While the man believed the coins would give him a boost in zinc, consuming such a large amount of the metal can actually result in zinc toxicity and ultimately death. Which means swallowing these coins and magnets was an even dumber idea than we originally imagined. Genuinely, how can a grown adult make such a silly decision? Absolute Darwin Award-level behaviour.
Although, maybe there should be questions asked as to whether all that zinc was ingested orally, as the man claims. I mean…
Hearts, triangles, bullets and star shapes? Not to mention what look like @nal beads in the top right of that image. Either way, best to stick to taking zinc in pill form from now on.
