A prisoner was viciously attacked by a gang of fellow inmates in the middle of a court room zoom call, which you’d think might take place in a secured room or with some extra security about, and not in the poor guy’s cell where he’s clearly susceptible to a prison beatdown for whatever season:

“Where are the officers?”, indeed! Great question by the prosecutor whose mission is to try and keep the victim in this sh*t hole of a prison for as long as possible. They’re probably off somewhere on their own zoom calls, waiting for everything to settle down a bit before they intervene.

There are a few theories as to why this prisoner got beaten up during his court room zoom hearing in the first place. The most obvious one is that he’s some kind of snitch who gets beaten up by his fellow inmates on the regular. Another theory is that maybe there were no police officers present and the inmates where just trying to recreate the man’s arrest for the court’s benefit.

The final theory, and the one I hope is true, is that the prisoner arranged his zoom beatdown on purpose so that the judge could feel sorry for him and give him a lighter sentence? That would be pretty genius if so, and would probably only cost him about 5 packets of ramen noodles to set up. I guess the effectiveness of such a stunt would depend on his original crime, but details of that don’t seem forthcoming at the moment. Oh well, get well soon in any case.
