Boxing champion Ryan Garcia shared possibly the wildest set of Instagram posts ever the other night when he first announced the birth of his new son, followed by a divorce announcement one hour later.
Here are the posts he shared back to back within 60 minutes of each other to his 10 million followers:
The fact he kept the comments open for the newborn baby post but not for the divorce post suggests he knew what the reaction would be, which makes it all the weirder why he would do something like this. Couldn’t he have waited a few days before the second announcement? Or maybe post a bunch of boxing highlights between the two posts to at least make it look like he didn’t post them back to back? Why would he feel the need to post the second item in the first place?
Well, in the end, Ryan Garcia deleted the divorce post which gives you an idea as to how the internet reacted to it. Unfortunately the screenshots were already all over Twitter by that point and as we all know, the Twitterati are not very forgiving folk.
Now I wouldn’t be doing my journalistic duty if I didn’t speculate that there might be a valid reason why Ryan Garcia would make such an absurd, ridiculously-timed post. The only thing I can think of is that maybe he found out the child isn’t his?
In any case, everything he’s posted since then has had to do with boxing so I guess he’s keen to move on from the whole thing and pretend like it never happened. Oh he’s also been hanging out with Floyd Mayweather recently, so that’s nice:
Old pic and I was a bit out of shape and slightly overweight lol but I want to say this about @floydmayweather you guys don’t know him and most of you will never. But he is authentic has a good heart and extremely generous. Stop playing with him he will always win. HES 50-0 and… pic.twitter.com/Lz28ZnK2nn
