You would have to be positively insane to annoy Mike Tyson in general, but to annoy him 30,000 feet up in the sky while he’s extra vexed and there’s no escape? Here’s a reminder of the outcome for passenger Melvin Townsend, who went viral in this clip last year:

Melvin Townsend’s lawyer, Jake Jondle, has now sent a $450,000 ‘prelitigation settlement demand’ to Tyson’s attorney, claiming Townsend suffered severe headaches and neck pain persisting to the present day. His argument is that “there were several other remedies available to Mr. Tyson, but he chose physical violence.”
Now obviously I’m not saying that violence is ever the answer in situations like this, but what did Melvin Towsend think was going to happen? The guy was ranting in Mike Tyson’s ear, leaning over his seat, and generally being loud and rude and obnoxious. The most likely outcome is that you end up on the receiving end of a beatdown from the baddest man on the planet, which is exactly what happened.
With any luck, a judge will just throw this case out as Tyson’s lawyer could easily argue that this man was harassing Tyson non-stop in hopes that he’d react and then get a payout from him. I mean, there’s no way anyone, including any judge, is watching that video and not siding with Iron Mike, right?
Meanwhile, on a Ryanair flight to Tenerife this week, a young lady was left with a bloody nose after calling a fellow passenger ‘a fat c***’.
