Horse Racing, it’s a brilliant sport and whether you’re a die hard fan or just a casual punter, the sport has got it all. A day out at the races sometimes can’t be beaten and the sport welcomes the most part time of fans and the most prestigious.

And there’s nothing more prestigious than celebrities right? Right? Well for those that are interested we thought we’d look at which celebrities are partial to horse racing with some high profile celebrities even owning some of the best horses in the game!

Sir Alex Ferguson

The most obvious one is Sir Alex Ferguson. Fergie owns multiple horses, his most notable one being Clan des Obeaux who has five major wins in the King Geroge, Betway Bowl, and the Punchestown Gold Cup.

SAF has always been a big fan of horse racing and buying horses after his management career was always his plan, he often visits various race courses across the UK and Ireland, who knows, you might be lucky enough to bump into him!

Wayne Rooney

Keeping the Mancchester United links going Sir Alex Ferguson’s main man for many years Wayne Rooney is a massive fan of Horse Racing. Wayne and Coleen Rooney both owned multiple horses including one called Switcharooney.

Rooney has also invested in some horses with former teammates such as Carrick and O’Shea. The former-United striker seems to no longer invest in horses but is often spotted at Chester races!

Dame Judi Dench

During Judi Dench’s childhood she was brought up around horse racing which has lead her on to buying a few horses later on in her life. Her most notable horse was Smokey Oakey who actually recorded seven career wins on the racetrack.

Steven Spielberg

Steven Spielberg is another famous Hollywood star who has a keen interest in the sport. In the early 2000s Spielberg purchased a stake in a horse which went on to run in the Kentucky Derby and recorded a respectable fourth place.

He’s also invested some of his fortune into Delaware stables in America so it’s clear that the director doesn’t mind a day at the races!

MC Hammer

MC Hammer might not have been the name you were expecting on this list but the Hip Hop artist had a multiple Grade 1 winning horse in Lite Light and secured a historic win in the Kentucky Derby which new online betting sites will always be pricing up.

Michael Owen

Michael Owen seems to be very passionate about Horse Racing. He’s opened his own stable, secured Group 1 victories with his horse Brown Panther and even gave a go at jockeying himself!

He actually managed second in his first race at Ascot and you’ve got to give him some props for that!
