I always thought that the UK cops were OK – especially in relation to their US counterparts – but there seem to be more and more videos cropping up of them being major jerks for some reason.

The video below was taken in Croydon on July 21st and sees a woman wrongfully arrested by police after she was accused of not paying her bus fare. Her young son is present throughout, clearly distressed at what he’s being forced to witness.

After the video went massively viral on the internet, the Met Police decided to issue the following statement giving their version of events:

I dunno this is a weird one. I suppose you can argue – and some people definitely will – that the woman should have just shown her Oyster card/debit card in the first place and none of this would have happened, but the police reaction is so disproportionate that you really have to question what the hell they’re doing? And it’s made all the more stupid by the fact that she had paid for her bus fare as well. The situation could have been resolved so much easier than it has been there. Cops suck man.
