A tech tycoon has been branded a ‘creep’ by the internet after allegedly offering a woman $100,000 to take off her face mask during a Delta Airlines flight.
It’s not like anyone exposed his stunt either; the millionaire announced himself on Twitter that he’d made the offer to an anonymous passenger last Friday:
I am on board a Delta flight right now. The person sitting next to me in first-class refused $100,000 to remove her mask for the entire flight. No joke. This was after I explained they don’t work. She works for a pharma company.
Kirsch is a Silicon Valley veteran who is credited with one of the first versions of the optical mouse back in 1980, so he’s probably good for the $100k. Even still, the lady in question turned down his offer which is pretty shocking tbh. I mean, come on, it’s $100k! Although I do kinda respect that she refused to give this guy the satisfaction just because he threw a load of cash at her.
Kirsch followed up his initial tweet by further explaining his interaction with the mask-clad traveler:
I started the bidding at $100. And I pointed out that when she removed the mask for eating and drinking, she could be infected with one breath. So she had full disclosure.
She took off her mask as soon as the breakfast was served!!!! Because everyone knows you can’t get infected while you are eating!! Maybe next time I’ll sit next to someone who had an account at Silicon Valley Bank.
Personally, I couldn’t care less whether someone wears a mask or not. It’s probably true that they barely work, but either way you’re not required to wear them on planes, so I don’t, because they’re just uncomfortable and stuffy. If I was wearing one though, the last thing I’d want is some smug prxck who thinks he’s smarter than everyone else giving me a lecture about masks. Mind your business, buddy! Unless you want to offer $100k of course in which case I’m taking my mask off 10/10 times.
As for labelling him a creep, maybe it makes sense on some level given he wanted to ‘control’ this lady by flashing his cash. Technically asking her to remove something she’s wearing for $100k. Not saying he’d have got a sexual thrill out of it but not saying he wouldn’t have got a sexual thrill out of it either. Who knows what other perverted offer he would’ve made if she’d accepted the first one? Fair play lady, whoever you are.
