Things got pretty stupid last week when an old manky Mr Blobby costume was put for sale on eBay and someone decided to bid £62,000 on it and ended up winning it, but today it’s been revealed that the buyer has backed out of the sale.

The anonymous seller said the following about it all:

Neither the broadcaster or the BBC’s production team wanted it – so it sat in my office until a move meant it came home with me some years ago.

Overall it’s not too bad for its age – but there is visible creasing and dust to the covering and some areas require a drop of glue to make good.

The listing was originally listed at £39 and I thought it would get to a level of £100 perhaps – so I was shocked really that it reached the level it did.

I think it was one of those things that was driven by social media.

Ironically, it was being sold not to make money but to make space.

eBay can’t eforce the auction by law, so I’m stuck with it now, but having realised how valuable is I think I’m going to hold onto it for a while.

Damn. I really thought there was some rich idiot out there who had nothing better to spend their money on than some old gross Mr Blobby costume that they could put on and entertain guests in at their country mansion over the weekend. Turns out it was probably just some drunk student who thought it would be great banter who probably ended up literally shxtting the bed when they ended up being the winner.

Hopefully they can rest easy now that it’s been officially cancelled and hopefully the seller ends up doing something interesting with the costume. Guy really is sitting on the ultimate party accessory there.

For more of the same, check out Mr Blobby’s abandoned house – a notorious rave venue in the mid 00s. Crazy.
