I think it’s fairly common knowledge that Gareth Bale loves playing golf and probably enjoys it more than playing football at this point in his life, so it’s not really that surprising to hear that he’s decided to open up a bunch of golf themed bars.

Given his squeaky clean image though, it is surprising to see that the bars are being mocked by fans on social media for being really seedy and looking like strip clubs on the inside. The most recent branch of ‘Par 59’ has just opened up in Bristol and people are saying that the few neon lights that populate the inside of it give it a way seedier vibe than what you would expect from someone like Bale, even if that does seem to be the vibe of all the crazy golf places that have popped up in city centres recently.

Perhaps the funniest/weirdest part of it all though is that there’s also a restaurant within ‘Par 59’ that’s called ‘The Glory Hole’. I know that most of you reading this will know what that means, but just in case you don’t then it’s a slang term for a hole cut in the wall of a public toilet, which men stick their penises through to get blown by an unknown character on the other side.

Surely someone involved in the design of ‘Par 59’ must have known this and if they did, why did they allow it to happen? Pretty inappropriate and not even that funny really. I get that it probably isn’t supposed to be a family style restaurant but even so it seems a little tacky and gross and just not in keeping with Bale’s vibe at all. What is he thinking?
