Seems like there’s a big trend of turning beloved children’s characters into the protagonists in horror movies after we saw a Winnie The Pooh one drop earlier this year and now there’s a trailer for a new film starring everyone’s favourite Christmas weirdo The Grinch.

‘The Mean One’ is directed by directed by Steven LaMorte from a script written by Flip and Finn Kobler, starring Chase Mullins, John Bigham, Erik Baker, Flip Kobler, Krystle Martin and Amy Schumacher – none of whom I’ve ever heard of before. The role of the The Grinch will be played with someone I’m vaguely aware of: none other than ‘Terrifier 2’ star David Howard Thornton. Guess he has a penchant for playing deranged killers?
Anyway, the movie opens with The Grinch murdering Cindy You Know Who’s mother in front of their Christmas tree and then fast forwards to twenty years later, when he’s threatening to ruin the holidays again by going on a killing spree around Newville. You know who’s going to have to stop him right? (pun intended).
Take a look at the trailer below:
In a sleepy mountain town, Cindy has her parents murdered and her Christmas stolen by a blood thirsty green figure in a red Santa suit – The Mean One.
But when the ravenous, Christmas hating creature begins to terrorize the town and threatens to ruin the holiday, she finds a new purpose – trapping and killing the monster.
Ok so that really doesn’t look very good does it and it’s probably an example of why making movies should be left to the experts. Even the trailer looks like it’s been cut super shoddily doesn’t it? Kinda a surprise that it’s even being released in theatres to be honest.
