Instead of allowing this Balthazar restaurant controversy to die once and for all, James Corden decided to take back his apology during an interview with the NY Times, in which he claimed the drama was ‘beneath’ him and that he didn’t actually feel he’d done anything wrong.
Well after initially forgiving James Corden and unbanning him from his restaurant, Balthazar owner Keith McNally has hit out at him again after he contradicted the apology he made in a private phone call to the restauranteur. Check out the caption to his IG post below:
So now what? I guess the incentive of free food at Balthazar for 10 years will be too much to pass up and James Corden will apologise to the servers. Although I’ve got no idea why he retracted his original apology in the first place. Either way, it proves what everyone already knows about James Corden, that’s he’s an Ellen Degeneres-style pr*ck who enjoys treating people like crap when the cameras aren’t on. The maddest part is that he doesn’t actually understand what he did wrong, according to that interview:
“Happens every day. It’s happening in 55,000 restaurants as we speak. It’s always about eggs. Can you imagine now, if we just blasted her on Twitter? Would that be fair? This is my point. It’s insane.
I haven’t done anything wrong, on any level. So why would I ever cancel this? I was there. I get it. I feel so Zen about the whole thing. Because I think it’s so silly. I just think it’s beneath all of us. It’s beneath you. It’s certainly beneath your publication.”
Doesn’t Corden have PR people he pays to tell him this is not the way to answer questions about this story? The next comment he makes on it better be good if he wants to curb the backlash/have any hope of eating at Balthazar again. Although there’s no guarantee that he won’t have spit or something much worse in his meals there from now on. Don’t mess with people who handle your food.
